Inspiration
You know when in certain weeks where you want to do a cool project but you just have absolutely NO inspiration at all?
When that happens to me, I tend to hear some good music and look at their respective album artworks. The albums that touch me the most, of course, are the ones from my favorite bands.
Porcupine Tree- Their album, “Fear Of A Blank Planet” is one of the most intelligent masterpieces in the history of music, sereously…Its songs flow to each other, every single of them carry the same sad and upbeat mood and the artwork sets the perfect tone for the album: A bored kid starring at a blank planet. The album talks about modern teenagers who live boring lives and escape from it throught eh abuse of technology and drugs…awesome album!
Dream Theater – No doubts, its my favorite band. Their music, lyrics and artwork are just perfect. The progressive soul is alive in each of the instruments played and their last album Black Clouds And Silver Linings is a perfect example of how you can blend heaviness, melodies, classical piano pieces and personal traumatic stories into strong lyrics, strong harmonies and a masterpiece album!
Pink Floyd – The guys who started everything were also famous for their curious and smart artworks and songs that combied weird samples like screams, machines working, bird sounds and much more. I think one of the most creative album covers also came from these guys…Dark Side Of The Moon, great song, great album, great idea and great cover!
What about you guys? Any band you love? Any of their artworks ever inspired you? Post here and we´ll discuss it.
Have a Good Weekend!

I love the artwork for Paper Walls by Yellowcard. The concept is tearing or burning down the paper walls (negative feelings) between the band members and starting over. You can see the album art here: http://www.scribd.com/doc/6800431/Digital-Booklet-Paper-Walls :)
Cool, that is a cool cover. Does it relate to the concept of the album itslef or just a general feeling experienced by the band at the moment?
I think it relates to the album concept. ;)
